it's funny, people bring up how MLB lost fans after the '94 strike, but the reality is the league has had consistent growth since 1995, the lone exception being 2002 where it had a 2% drop from the previous year.

It’s funny that you posted this article today because as I watched TV last night I thought it would be nice if there was a game on right now. I haven’t thought that since the beginning of November. Probably helps that the Kings won it all last season, but I am not by any means devastated that there is no NHL right now. I've been a diehard fan since the 80's and I hate to say it, but I’ve kind of moved on. Life gets in the way. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be back when it returns but until then, who cares. It will be that much better when it returns. Staples won’t be all packed out with tools. All the bandwagon fans will have forgotten what hockey is.

Anyone here feel the same?

Actually it's the other way around since the NHL does not own the cup. The owners of the cup have a deal with the NHL to give it to the NHL champs year after year. The Stanley Cup owners "may" give the cup to a different Canadian champion if the NHL doesn't play during an entire season. That was verified by the courts in a lawsuit during the last lockout. You could be right in that they won't do it nor seriously consider it.... but it's the Stanley Cup organization's choice, not the NHL's choice.

it sucks that deano built a team for multiple cup runs and the kings will lose a yr because of this.
