My God, it's a long hot summer when we start and even read threads like this. Boredom has really set in.
Yes, I think of the team as we.
After so many years of : happiness, excitement, heartbreak, disappointment, sur prise, I feel I've well earned the feeling that I have as being part of the Kings.

I had to think about my usage for a minute because I know for a fact that I use both WE and THEY in different situations when talking about the Kings. I think what I came to realize while thinking about it, is that when I am talking with a fellow Kings fan, I tend to refer to the team and their accomplishments as THEY. But when I am having a discussion about hockey with a fan of another team, I tend to use WE as a way to side with my team. Personally, I dont care how anyone wants to refer to their involvement with the team. We, they, whatever... We are all Kings fans and thats all that matters.

If this is such a great debate, there must be a group of people that get extremely perturbed when the song "We are the Champions" gets played during post game celebrations.

Maybe we can get Freddy Mercury to sing a new version that says "You are the Champions."

    ...Wait, what?

Technically I think it would be "They are the Champions".

I wore the same unwashed lucky Reverend Horton Heat longsleeve shirt for EVERY game of the playoffs, and during some some hot evenings I might add. I did a shot every time they scored. I drank the same beer every game. I played lucky riffs on guitar that seemed to energize and motivate the team. I helped them win the cup. It's "we". If anyone has a problem with me saying "we"...it's their problem.

PS-it's also "we", when "we" can't score a goal 5 on 5 OR on the PP, or when "we" just can't seem to win a game.

Fans get more upity about this than the owners do. I presume that the players don't care either. So if players and owners alike don't give a crap, why whould we?

    We shouldn't.

If you want to say "we" in the context of being part of the team, go ahead. Just because you haven't played a game for them doesn't mean you don't emotionally support them as much as any of the players, coaches, owners or staff. In fact, I think the owners want us as fans to say "we" in the context of being part of the team. They want us to buy in on the team and support it.

I think we're all arguing over a bunch of semantics that no one will give two craps about in 40 years.

Be happy that I/we/they won it for the first ****ing time in the 45 year history of the team.
    just be happy for once

I think this is a good thing, actually. After the protracted high of winning the SC, I'm grateful for a little down time.

    Btw,

WE ARE THE FREAKING STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!

Sorry... I still can't believe it sometimes.
