How can I say "we won the Cup" when I didn't win the Cup?

At times, I also use the phrasing "My Kings" and/or "My boys"...although I am fully aware that I do not own the team, nor am I their only fan. Soooo there!

    Default "We" won the cup

I may have led in points, hits, goals, shorthanded goals, and penalty minutes and won 4 Stanley Cups in 6 seasons as a left wing on the X-Box but I still won't say "we".

I call both Quick and Kopi "my boy" and "my homie". I even call Kopi "my roaddogg" on occasion. Its all in jest of course and I never use "we" except when I also play with the Kings on XBox. I lead defensemen in points, hits, goals, assist and +/-. I even have a Norris and Calder trophy for my troubles. Take that Doughty !!!

Whoever wants to use "we" should. I don't care. It gives me ammo to annoy my co-workers with.

I feel fully justified in saying "we" won the Cup because when Jonathon Quick fell ill before game three in the Finals, I took a cue from Jean Claude Van Damme in Sudden Death and filled in for him, stopping all 22 shots from the Devils to put the Kings up 3-0 in the series. I may not have prevented terrorists from blowing up the arena like Van Damme, but at least I never made Cyborg.

At any point during that entire ordeal did you find it necessary to assault Bailey because he was in fact an international terrorist?

Don't kid yourself, in 40 years a whole new generation of hockey fans is going to be complaining about this.

I try not to use the we term either in connection with the Kings, I much prefer when talking about hockey in person using "The Stanley Cup Champion LA Kings" .

But actually, to me it is disrespectful to the team to use the we and us stuff, we didn't play any hockey for them, we didn't get the crap beat out of us every night, we didn't have to deal with the ups and downs this season and we really didn't have to deal with Mike Smith and his BS.
