I really hope whatever that is, it isn't "beyond repair" for the rest of the season.
It is the cement underneath showing through the white paint. It happens all the time at rinks, never seen it on an NHL rink. Usually means the ice is pretty thin at that spot. My guess is since they painted the ice in September, it has been covered for a number of months. Likely was a thin spot.

I figured it was the remnants of an outline for a dead body. Jabba the Hut, maybe?
It looks like an askew front door welcome mat that leads to the crease which is kind of ironic because it is in front of Quick twice and he welcomes no one into his crease.
