Thread: Western Conference Champions Banner?

The new ugly numbers look MUCH better than the old ugly numbers. They're also much more symbolic, like the ones in baseball where they just have a number in a circle (as opposed to being on a really big uniform with sleeves).

Actually, come to think of it, weren't the original retired numbers (in the Forum) on big sweaters with sleeves? I don't remember people crying about the sleeves going missing.. I wonder who has the sleeves?

I think that works better for teams who don't change their jersey and number styles every 5 years. Right now it looks out of place with different generations of jerseys but all with the same number style.

THe overall new font choice across all the materials leaves much to be desired. It is a bit too Gills Sans like, but worse.

I agree. Having the different colors, styles and fonts made it look like a pick-up hockey game. I'm not necessarily in love with the font, but it's nice that it's one, unifying feature.

I for one I'm not so concerned about the different font or lack thereof on the Retired Jerseys up in the rafters. I guess I'm much more looking forward to the day not far in the future where Championship Banners will outnumber Retired Jerseys up there.

...and while I'm on the subject, I hope I don't see #4 up there any time soon, or that I live long enough enough to see another player worthy of that honor.

Thank you for the post and the images ManchesterFig. I don't think it's farfetched that Luc and the Kings will listen to the fans that are complaining and change the font to the jerseys to match what was originally up on the wall. I see where you're all coming from.

It might be just me but it looks like the new retired number banners/panels look to be smaller than the old ones. Then again, I'm looking at them on a TV. Maybe they needed to free up some space.

Personally, I like the new panels.

Always someone complaining on LGK. Shocker.
