I like the trade since he can be a reliable player on the 4th line at least. His highest scoring total was 39 points two years ago with the Thrashers.
The Los Angeles Kings have acquired forward Anthony Stewart from the Carolina Hurricanes along with their fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Draft and their sixth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Draft in exchange for forward Kevin Westgarth, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Stewart, 28, has played in 262 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, Atlanta Thrashers and Florida Panthers. He has recorded 71 points (7-44=71) and 123 penalty minutes.
A 6-3, 230-pound native of La Salle, Quebec, Stewart last year played in 77 games for Carolina and he recorded 11 points (6-5=11). The previous season he recorded a career-high 14 goals with the Thrashers.
He was originally selected by the Panthers in the first-round (25th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Westgarth has played in 90 regular season games with the Kings dating back to the 2008-09 season. Last year he played in 25 regular season games and had two points (1-1=2).
