Great trade.
Great trade.
Got those of you unfamiliar, Stewart is a former #1 pick from the really deep 2003 draft. Yes, he's a project, but he's not afraid to drop the gloves and has a better scoring touch than Westie by far. He fights, but he's more like a middleweight like Lappy was.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I hope he punches his stupid brothers face when we play the blues
And will be fun to see if he fights his brother next time we play the Blues. Here is his fight card...

Can't be worse than Parse, AND we get two picks
I like this move a lot. Way to go Deano
The great thing about this deal is Stewart is a guy with good physical ability and some decent speed and hands. He is a big upgrade over Westgarth who is completely one dimensional. Sorry to see Westgarth leave as he is a great guy but this is a huge upgrade for the Kings. I love that DL is continually looking to help this team. I have a feeling he is not done either. Maybe a d-man?
Who would've thought that two extra draft picks would equate to 150K in cap space. Love it!
