That's the question. Some Carolina fans will tell you otherwise. With Westgarth you have a known commodity; if you want what he brings you know exactly what you're getting. A Sutter team has no place for Kevin. With Stewart you give Sutter the chance to turn him into a willing bottom 6 player or he'll be on the waiver wire and you're left with the picks for Westgarth as well as no commitment through 13/14. Westgarth also lives in Carolina and will get a shot to play so it's win/win for him as well.
Westie seemed like a great guy, but this is a great trade. Best of luck to KW in Carolina!
I think this is a great trade for Westgarth and for the Kings. Not so sure about Carolina.
I'd hate to be Rutherford after nine months...
I'm not gonna miss KW's stomach punches or his stupid hand clapping.
Looks like even more depth for the "roll four lines" philosophy.
Good move.
I'm just happy we acquired two picks and a depth player for an unused depth player.
And westgarth was signed as a UFA.....Lombo parlayed a borderline enforcer into a former 1st rd pick from a great draft year along with a couple of draft picks. Could be a great trade with Stewart coming into a much better team and roster where his skills can be utilized and most likely paired with much more talented players then he was used to in ATL and FLA.
