What They're Saying- the US Fail edition
With all due respect to RCC, the dude who normally does this thread. For the record, all these comments were made after the game was almost over as I didnt want to sift through first and second period comments.
@adater: Time for USA brain trust to be gently retired. Adios Burke and Poile, give me Dean Lombardi in charge
this is just embarrassing now. USA go home
This is fun to watch. Finland is playing great. They really want that bronze medal. You can see this game really means something to them. The US looks like crap today. Guess it's gold or nothing for them. I can count the amount of Americans playing well on one hand.
Solid leadership there by Zach leaving Selanne alone in front
Bobby Ryan is happy right now lol
USA gonna get shut out 2 games in a row
Quick is used to it.
As a blues fan, I can only hope this game hurts Quick's confidence come playoffs and doesn't eliminate us for the 30th year in a row
The blame is on the players on the ice. Complete no show.
This is what happens when you don't bring Bobby Ryan and Keith Yandle.
Congrats to Finland, they played great this tournament. As an American, I'm embarrassed by our boys' effort this game
Funny trivial fact:
When Tuomo Ruutu is playing in national team, Finland ALWAYS gets a medal. Always. And this fact is true (soon).
Couldn't have picked a worse leadership group for USA. Parise, Suter, and Brown have all been terrible.
Yup, a whole lotta fail there.
This is a decent amount of Quick's fault.
I can't believe we didn't have a goalie change. Bylsma fail
So they have given up congrats finland kind of glad I slept through my alarm... Terrible way to go out like a bunch of babies. Canada beat you get over it.
Congrats to Finland. They played a great Tourney. What a major disappointment for the USA hockey program, both men and women. Can't believe the men won't medal. Epic collapse
Gotta love everyone on here blaming Quick. You should start with the aarseclowns that selected this team to begin with with comments about players that were never considered, lack intensity, won't do well on the big ice, etc... Than you select players to play physical shut down hockey in lieu of players that will provide you with offense...sort of like every other team in this tournament. This is a skill and finesse game in these international tourneys, not physical slugfest.
HIPS NOTE-that came from an Isles fan.
So against Russia, Canada and Finland, the US have ZERO ES goals. Amazing what happens when you play against good goalies.
You can't spell abysmal without Bylsma.
Orpik with the big whiff at the last shot opportunity sums up the performance of the US team.
The dorm rooms that currently house Team USA are getting nervous.
No one should be blaming Quick, but honestly, Brown has looked awful. It's not Brown's fault they lost but he hasn't stepped his game at all, unlike his counterparts (Kopi, Quick, Doughty, Carter). I'm so glad he went so he could suck on the international stage too. At this point, I just have no hope for Brown turning his season around.

The last two games looked like Kings games. Quick gives the team a chance to win and gets no offensive support.
Today, Quick had no defensive support in the final two periods.
And Brown's weak ass board play and a derping turnover led to the breakout on the first goal. I am not looking forward to that type of play in a King's jersey upon his return.

Where's Pierre's classic comment about Brown?
"STAPLED TO THE BENCH"
Or this one - Mr Burke:
"He is not intense. That word is not in his vocabulary. It's never going to be in his vocabulary. He can't spell intense."

At least our boys were intense and truculent, right?

The good news is that Brown will come back well rested, and Quick will finally realize that offenses cannot play in front of him.
But I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know we don't play for bronze. God bless the USA.
