For my money, the intro section of Dream Theater's "Metropolis Part 1" would be AWESOME (and sports teams have been missing the boat for 20 years by not using it).

I think its absolutely ludicrous to not like "I Love L.A." b/c of your reasoning. Its no more the connected to the Lakers than it is the Kings...........the Dodgers, The Galaxy, and the Los Angeles Xtreme. All of those L.A. teams have used it. No team has ownership of it in any way.
Its an absolute iconic and somewhat satirical song about my beloved hometown!
