I've tried to be optimistic, however I'm really beginning to think this season is lost.
Opening night for the NHL will be Saturday December 29, 2012.
The Kings will hoist the banner that night at home.
If the Winter Classice is cancelled, the season will also be cancelled. No reason to begin after that for the owners.
I understand your pessimism, but I don't see why, in theory, a portion of the season could not still be played without the Winter Classic. The Classic has to be cancelled very early for logistical reasons, but even if it is, and an agreement is reached at the end of November (for example), a season could still start in early to mid-December, wihout the Classic or ASG.
There will be no 2012/13 NHL season. I'm not a pessimist, I'm a realist.
I'm not worried. Mainly because I don't care anymore.
The players, having learned their lesson last time, are really gonna stick together and get it done this time...and sit out two years and get a lot less than last time.
The real reason for the lockout, Bettman hates Canada (even more than he hates hockey) and didn't want Toronto in a Winter Classic.
