Where wil the Kings' offense rank in the NHL in 2014-15?
The Kings were 26th in goals scored in the NHL in the 2013-24 regular season.
That really changed during the POs.
All those changes, and even more offensive possibilities, await the team in 2014-15.
There should be considerable improvement on that 26th position next year.
Players who could bolster the offense over last season:
1.Gaborik-- Who isn't excited about seeing him at Kopitar's side for an entire season?
2.Toffoli-- Is he ready to kick up the numbers? Could be.
3. Pearson-- His speed and touch look promising.
4. Mike Richards-- If he actually does come to camp in Sept in his best shape as a King (much better than last season),
a return to 50+ pts is entirely likely.
5. Martinez-- With all that OT-Goal-scoring PO confidence, he'll be playing a final contract year before possibly going UFA (if DL lets it happen).
Bigtime motivation to play extra-assertive.
6. Brayden McNabb-- IF the kid's for real, and can adapt over the season to the role of solid, steady physical partner for Voynov at even-strength, he might also
get to show his chops on the PP, which are reputed to be considerable. He's produced big points at every level so far.
7. Jordan Weal-- While he might not get a clear chance in LA barring injuries, he still has to be considered a wild card in the mix. IMO, his best shot might be
if he gets a chance to play RW on the top line with Kopi and Gaborik. His blinding speed and ability to rove in search of loose pucks might work well with Kopi/Gabs.
On the other hand, at center, breaking-thru in LA would be more daunting for Weal, I think, given the physical responsibilities of
King centers down low in the D-zone (like a 3rd D-man).
the best-laid-plans, etc etc blah blah.
But that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

with gaborik, i think the kings finally figure it out offensively and get into the 20-25 range.

I will give them around 15th so I picked the 3rd option. They'll score more, but still won't be top 10. Course we all know defense wins championships, so even if we don't finish as high as I predict, we will probably be around longer than those that do score a lot.

The more pertinent question is where will @triplecrown rank on LGK in the most polls category?

Not that it matters, as long as they win enough games 2-1 1-0 and that gets them through to the play offs.

don't care. As long as they win their last game in the playoffs.

I chose the 21-25 range. My take is that under Sutter's system, the Kings will still rank low in offense but tops in defense. Everyone's seen the success of his ways, and the whole team's bought into it.

Hopefully #1 in goal differential, but they're never going to take the types of cherry-picking risks that lead to a top-10 scoring offense.

The Kings are going to score...one billion fafillion gajillion shab-ab-dood-illion...goals.
...and allow zero goals against.
