Doughty, easily. That guy has struggled his entire life trying to be part of a winner. How sweet it must be to finally prove himself on the big stage...
Seriously, Mitchell is number 1. Both parties took a chance on one another. Other organizations weren't sold on his health and he was looking to be part of a winner. What showed his true character is that he signed his extension during the season, right after the Carter trade when things were still in doubt. He must've known this was his last chance to be part of a winner and he saw enough of the Sutter regime to think things would eventually turn and sign on for what is likely his last contract, and at a decent price! Plus, he looked like he was ready to jump out of his skin with excitement when he held that Cup over his head and I don't think I've seen more pics of a single player drinking out of the Cup in more venues that Mitchell.
I can't talk about Richards without including Carter. Richards who was the heart and soul of the Flyers. The biggest bunch of hooey is the rationalization that Giroux would not have blossomed with Richards in the lineup. They had already effectively moved Richards to the 3rd line the previous year. Relying on two ancient defensemen and having mediocre goaltending is what did them in each year. You'd think that they would've received at least 1 elite defenseman prospect back after trading both Richards and Carter. On Carter, other fans telling us that he never scores important goals...not anymore! Extra credit for being the only trade deadline deal I can remember by the Kings that actually contributed something of note in the season he was traded for. Remember how awesome it was when the Kings traded for Anson Carter?! Or Mark Parrish? Instant impact, baby. I hope that both Richards and Carter see themselves as Kings for life, now.
The Captain, Dustin Brown. Not just for being the captain, but for wanting to be the captain. For showing up to camps to give encouragement to the young guys before he was even named captain. For going back to give Lombardi an earful after Lombardi questioned his leadership this season. For taking his man pills after the trade deadline and earning the right to be the first King captain in history to hoist the Cup.
Honorable mention: Scuderi "I didn't come here to finish second". Now he has more Cup rings than Crosby. Bwahaha.
I am happy for everyone. It was nice seeing Carter and Richards raising the Cup when they signed long term with Philly so that was nice to rub it in their face. Mitchell for signing an extension because he believed and now got the cup. Kopitar, Brown and Quick who have been here since the full blown rebuild. But yeah the full team because they all played hard and gave it their all. ex. Scuderi in the finals taking that major cross check and coming back asap. Any other sport they are done for weeks or months.
But yes not playing right but Bob Miller especially and us fans.
Lombardi for sticking with it and finally getting the payoff.
Me for sticking with it and finally getting the payoff.
My hockey buddies for sticking with it and finally getting the payoff.

It was such a pleasure to see the pure genuine emotion on Willie Mitchell's face when he lifted that cup.
Then mike Richards with how hard he took the trade, and the heart and soul type guy he is. Also, that slight hue of "F you" to Philly.
3rd, Brown. He said he was going to bring the cup. He wanted to be the first King to ever hoist the cup in Kings history, job well done. Dude laid it all on the line during the playoffs.
4th: Sutter. *fistpump*

#1 Mitchell-Everyone has stated why, and I agree!
#2 Brown-Took a lot of B.S, youngest captain in LA history, drafted LA, been through the system, seen a lot of things, been through a lot of LAs UPS and a lot more DOWNS. Loves LA, loves the fans, might not be the best captain but he loves his team.
#3 Kopi-My favourite player and he looked sooo happy when we won EACH series. His happiness reflected my happiness and it was great to see how excited he was to win every series. Love the kid!
#1 Matt Greene: Got to game 7 with the Oilers and lost. Stabilizing force for the team over the course of the past few years.
#2 Jarrett Stoll: Got to game 7 with the Oilers and lost. Stabilizing force for the team over the course of the past few years.
#3 Dustin Brown: He said he wanted to be the 1st captain on the L.A. Kings to lift the cup and he did it. Well done sir.
Brown. Without a doubt. Was rush by the original management that drafted him, worked hard during the lockout to get up to speed just to end up playing with the dirt bag Avery and listen to dumbass fans call THAT guy the heart and soul of the Kings. was almost shipped out and then went on to LEAD a team through the playoffs and become a legit contender for the Conn Smythe. On top of that, showed that he could end up being one of the best Captains in the NHL.
Kopitar. Was doing well last season and the Kings were poised to make some noise. Then he goes down hurt and the Kings fall again. Went into the playoffs this year as a "how we he do" type of player and showed that he is one of the leagues elite centers.
Lombardi. Come on. Seriously....this is a great "I told you so" story. The BEST conversations on this site are the fire Lombardi threads. He showed everyone that while the regular season is important, you get the character players because of the playoffs. He gets to look at players that turned him down and shrug his shoulders. B. Richards, Kovi, Gabby, so on and so on.)
