Thread: Who is getting sent down/waived from the 4th line group?

Richardson traded or Stewart waived.

one of them will sit. play ritchi when speed is needed and stewart when grit needed

Are you talking about after Toffoli gets sent down? He seems likely to be sent down first to get to 14 forwards. Or 15 if you're counting Kopitar.

If Kopi's on IR, then you don't have to do anything more until he's ready to play. If he's on the opening roster (whether or not he plays), then you have to make another move. Right?

At that point, I see it as a 2 horse race between Nolan (on a 2 way contract, and thus waiver exempt) and Stewart (if he succeeds great, if not you don't worry about losing him). Those 2 options would be preferable to losing Clifford or Richardson on the waiver wire. If Nolan and Stewart are the best players in that group going forward, then you might see a trade of Richardson or Clifford, but I don't see either of them being sent down.

The other thing (which is off your topic, I know) is that Drewiske is likely gone when Mitchell gets healthy. Muzzin would have to clear waivers to be sent down anytime from now on. After losing Hickey... it seems to me that can't happen.

I agree with you about the biggest competition being between Nolan and Stewart. Nolan is good and has a big presence, but doesn't have any real stand-out, game-changing qualities. Stewart may get that spot over Nolan due to his experience and his grit. And he looked good during the open practice on Monday night.

Honestly, Toffoli looked GREAT (from what I saw on Monday), but there's just not enough room for him right now. And he's a great asset to keep in Manchester for now. But I would love to see him in action soon.

As much as i want Richardson to be gone, I think Clifford is the one who gets moved in some way, shape, or form. I think he has potential, but he's really young and I wonder about his consistency right now. I dont expect his injuries to be an issue, but I do think he has his work cut out for him to beat out the other 3.

Nolan stood out on the 4th line in the playoffs. He can carry the puck and score some goals when we need them. I saw the guy make some smart plays durning the playoff run last year. Plus he dont take crap and will shed those mitts any day of the week and hold his own

Remember, Clifford was hurt early on in the playoffs, so we really didn't get to see too much of him and what he could have done. I love Clifford and would hate to see him bumped down to Manchester. That being said, Nolan showed a lot of grit, and made a lot of smart plays, wasn't afraid to scrap, and didn't take stupid penalties (a la Clifford).
