obtuse or not, the whole notion of buying out a player and then re-signing said player to a friendlier contract is INDEED verboten under the new CBA.
... as is trading for that player and acquiring via waivers if i'm not mistaken.
You kind of answered yourself and the new CBA backs you up:
Obvious reason here: The league doesn’t want teams to cheat the system and get a player back under a cheaper salary (since the buyout doesn’t count against the salary cap).

As much as I dislike both parties on this lockout for what they made us endure, it feels good to talk puck again.
I dont understand all the flak. I asked if something was possible because it seemed like an interesting potential loop hole. The only answer i got was, "nobody will do it" without any reason as to why one might not. Obviously with the details being posted they've covered themselves on this front, but its not like its outside the realm of possibility that they decided to allow ALL teams to utilize the amnesty buyouts as they see fit in order to allow everyone to better manage their cap space. As it stands right now, only teams who's GMs REALLY ****ed up get to take a mulligan (2 now actually), so team's whos GMs did a better job signing their assets to planned, manageable contracts were hindered the last few seasons. Teams who "cheated" were at an advantage and are essentially not getting penalized.
which is what i did above... the answer to the question was, you can't.

COMPLIANCE BUYOUTS
Teams will be allowed up to two buyouts over the next two summers -- 2013 and 2014 -- either one in each summer or two in one summer and none in the other. The new detail here that I found interesting is that any player bought out under these circumstances CANNOT be re-acquired by that same team during the upcoming season, not by waivers, not by trade and not by free-agent signing.
Obvious reason here: The league doesn’t want teams to cheat the system and get a player back under a cheaper salary (since the buyout doesn’t count against the salary cap).
in other words... not even if we made a trade with Philly...

I was just thinking to myself..
Amazing that there is not a single player on this team that I'd want DL to buy-out.
How many other teams out there can say that? Every single one of their players are useful, and signed to good contracts.
*not saying DL never made mistakes, but none of them, thankfully, were "long-term" errors.
