So Teubert is now the new Boyle? It's like watching the birth of a new fashion trend.

I'd be shocked. The reluctance by Dean Lombardi to let Mike Richards go (only telling him to get in better shape despite his struggles) while hypothetically moving Dustin Brown here would certainly say something significant about how he views him as a player, I guess.

When it was mentioned that Yandle was potentially available that was the exact trade I rolled around in my head, and it makes me feel dirty knowing I'm on the same mental wavelength as you.

Points wise Yandle had 53 points (8 goals - 45 assists) this season while Voynov had 34 points (4 goals + 30 assists) in his first full 82-game season. In the previous two shortened seasons Voynov scored at a higher pace so I'm thinking this past year might be slightly off the norm so I'm a bit iffy if it justifies the potential difference in pay.

Keith Yandle makes $1,083,333 more than Voynov and his contract is up after this upcoming season so you might be looking at negotiations that push his next contract figure north of the $5,250,000 that he's making now. Voynov, despite his down year, is locked in at $4,166,667 until the 2019-2020 season so you know what you're working with there in terms of numbers and can work around that.

Age is surprisingly not a factor since Yandle is only 3 years older at 27 so he's still in his prime as well. He's been playing in the NHL so long that I really thought he was in his 30's before I checked.

The two big things that gives me some pause is on the defensive front and his handedness.

The rightly-lefty schtick doesn't need much explanation, but suffice to say Yandle is a lefty and Voynov is one of the few right-handed defensemen on the Kings.

Yandle has a bit of Jack Johnson squirreliness in his game when he's not rushing the puck and playing offense. When Voynov isn't knocking pucks past Quick he plays some solid defense so that aspect isn't really in question.

Clifford had a better showing in the playoff than the regular season. It's not the first time he's done that in his career thus far either.

As weird as it sounds there's underrated value to bottom six players that can elevate their game come playoff time. Often times it's what they can do while the top six is being held in check by game planning that can swing the ultimate outcome of a game.

The problem however is that I don't think there is a situation where either of those trades are realistic. If the Blackhawks offer the Kings Kane and Towes tomorrow (and somehow both guys agree to sign for a 2 million cap hit) for Doughty you do it. I can come up with all kinds of unrealistic trades that the Kings could make, but they're not going to happen.

If there is a shocker at the draft I think it could be Voynov, but even then I think it's very unlikely. Guys like Nolan and Clifford are a little bit more of who I would not be surprised to see moved.
I'm sorry but no you dont.

No you don't trade T T who is young and cheap and gonna get much better for an unknown number 1 pick in a weak draft.

No you sure as he'll don't trade the best defenceman in the world for 2 forwards. I don't care who they are defense is greater than forwards.

Sorry. You are wrong. You just don't do it. Why are we even talking about trades like this when we just won 2 cups in 3 years.

The point of my post wasn't to debate the merits of trading Doughty for anybody.

I understand the merits of your post. I know it's for Towes and Kane. You don't do that trade. I don't think you trade him for Crosby straight up.

Zykov looked great in the games I saw him play in preseason last year...but you are right inexperienced so that's why I added the "or FA"

As others have said, it would not surprise me to see Nolan dealt for a pick or prospect. I hope they can find a way to keep Vey, with Stoll approaching UFA status next year. Finally, it would only mildly surprise me to see Clifford traded. He really elevated his game in the playoffs, especially in the SCF. His stock has never been higher. As they say, buy low, sell high.

I can see Vey and/or Nolan being on the move in a trade packaged with a pick maybe to move up and take a player that the Kings scouting staff and Dean think is worth moving up to get.

I could also see that type of trade being made from a Kings' perspective to acquire multiple picks in next year's draft.

I see Lombardi packaging up some of the 9 picks to get higher if he has someone they really want. Other than that I don't see much happening. The core of the team is solid and locked up. The only real need now is to re-stock the cupboard.
