Thread: Willie Mitchell

I love me some Willie Mitchell and I don't have an issue with him keeping himself out...an athlete knows his body the best and Mitchell's been through a serious injury that he came back too early from. AND Drewiske and Muzzin are doing just fine.

But I wonder if this could cause some problems.

Sutter said he’s “not a doctor or a psychologist” and, therefore, can’t explain what’s going through the head of the 35-year-old blue-liner that’s been medically cleared to play after having knee surgery during the lockout.

Guessing here: How about he returns Sat against the ducks?

Hard to say what all is going on here. Either the docs need to take Willies concerns more seriously, or he needs to adjust to whatever the new reality of his knee is and realize it's not going to get better even if structurally everything is ok.

How many people have been told by their doc, "we can't find anything medically wrong with you." But, we the patient know there is something definitely wrong. Same with Mitchell.

From Mitchell's quotes it sounds like there's fluid buildup when he skates, if the docs decide its just inflammation management at that point then that's what it is. Otherwise stop skating. These guys destroy their bodies and it sounds like Willie's trying to decide how far to take his.

Exactly. Willie is not a primadonna nor a wuss so I will believe and back whatever Willie says/thinks about his injury and when it is time for him to come back. He is a warrior.

If anyone has any questions about the state of NHL teams dr's and medical advisers all you have to do is look at what Gagne went through, look at Frasier's issues with Edmonton and read the book Jonsey, Put your Head Down and Skate.

Of course, we can always look at Doan's remark "I mean Rozy's knee's blown out." as a sign that players may be over sensitive too?

I dont want Mitchell playing until he's 100%.

Honestly, Drewiske and Muzzin have been doing real well...

I think they both deserve some slack here.

Sutter has to do his job. Willie has to do his job. I'm sure they will figure it out.
