Is there a rule (other than common sense) preventing a goalie from being chosen? I suppose theoretically it is possible the shootout could go through the entire lineup with it still being tied.. Then what? Do the shooters go twice?

Shoot Outs Suck Ass. Never watch them.
They should just eliminate the regular season and just have a shoot out play off and give the cup to the winner. It really already is what it boils down to.

I'm not a big fan of the shootouts either. A weird thought crossed my mind last night.....wouldn't it be kinda fun to see ol' Al MacInnis or Al Iafrate park 10 feet from the net and just blast it at the goaltender during a "shootout"? Now that would be entertainment.
Get rid of the stupid things already. The novelty has worn off...

Only change I would have made would been Toffoli for Vey.

I can't believe that decides a GD point in the nhl.

We have really come full circle on the subject of shoot outs.
In the old days people used to say "I wish the NHL had shoot outs! Anything would be better than a tie!"
Now it's "I wish the NHL would get rid of shoot outs! Ties would be preferable to giving an extra point to the team that wins a skills competition!"
