Everyone likes big ice for a week or two.

Now go watch a league game in Sweden when the teams have learned how to defend as a team. Bet you fall asleep. Actually, bet you won't even bother to watch. I do not blame you.

Really? It seemed like NBC was airing the live broadcast from TSN today for the Slovak game.

NBCSportsNet is airing every US game, plus medal round. I failed to see the note on the link I put up that said US/Canada was delayed. The US/Slovakia game was live.

Belarus giving Americans all they can handle right now in a physical game.

Captain Jack had a nice elbow to the head of Mikhail Grabovski (Leafs) that got him 2 + 10 in the first period.

3-2 USA going into the third - live on NBCSportsNet.

Holy crap! US and A ran into hot goaltender to almost make benefit glorious nation of Kazakhstan.

Americans could only salvage two of three points as Kazaks scored late in third to force OT before eventually winning 3-2. (Replay at 5PM on NBCSportsNet)

Last two games for Team USA in Preliminary Round are against hometown Finns, Sunday morning, and Swiss, on Tuesday.

Watched that one, in past years I would have been upset with team USA. Usually, all my attention goes from the Kings to team USA after the Kings exit the playoffs. Only passingly paying attention to the worlds this year and I like it!

Yeah, and a sweet performance from some guy named Pushkaryov -- name sounds vaguely familiar.

Medal Round Quarterfinals are set with the Tuesday conclusion of the Preliminary Round. All the usual suspects are in with the Americans drawing a rematch against co-host Finland, and the Helsinki Group winning Canadians playing Slovakia, who were almost upset by France in each team's final Prelim game that determined the fourth seed in the Helsinki Group.

The complete list of Thursday Quarterfinal matchups are as as follows:

    H1 Canada vs. H4 Slovakia (3:00 AM)
    S1 Russia vs. S4 Norway (5:45 AM)
    H2 USA vs. H3 Finland (8:30 AM)
S2 Sweden vs. S3 Czech Republic (11:15 AM)

The Semifinal Round will be the first time teams from the Helsinki and Stockholm groups crossover to play one another. In one Semifinal, the Canada-Slovakia winner will face the Sweden-Czech Republic winner. And, in the other Semifinal, the Russia-Norway winner will square off with the USA-Finland winner.
