Best part, the Yotes have this idiot signed for next season too. Love how they showed every dirty hit and elbow this tool has been suspended for the past 6 years. Stop jumping into your checks and laying dirty elbows.

Well he is definitely making an example of him.
Different era's but I find it interesting that this suspension rivals that of Bertuzzi and McSorley.
Kudos, Shanny. I didn't think the suspension would be quite as long, but Shanahan finally got one right. Torres does the same **** over and over again and never seems to learn his lesson. Maybe now he finally will.
"Hockey won't hold still to give you a better look. You wouldn't want it to anyway. It's the action that makes the possibilities endless."
If this moron's suspension is excessive, then I'm the pope. This jackwagon should be sent to the ECHL for the rest of his career as soon as his suspension is over.
He sure looks remorseful there. Jerk.
Hurm...not sure. Look, Torres is a schnook. No argument there. But watch the hit. First off, Hossa should get 5 games for coming out of the corner with his head down. What was he making out his grocery list? He seems to have no idea that a game is going on around him. Yes, Torres charged, and the puck was gone so it was an interference, but Hossa wouldn't have got hit in the head if he hadn't apparently been looking for change on the ice. 20 games for being a repeat offender is extreme. If that is going to set the standard from now on that's fine, but if Shanny wants to set that bar he needs to stick to it. I can see an appeal maybe lowering that number. I am not defending the hit entirely nor am I happy that Hossa was hurt, but at some point the NHL HAS to take into account the victims actions as well. ALL players have a resopnsibility to be...well, responsible. And Hossa's action directly affected the seriousness of the hit. I do not support Doc's argument as well as others that the team should be penalized for a players actions. That's just getting into an area that would cause all sorts of problems.
If the Coyotes have any respect for the game they'll buy him out and rid themselves of this piece of ****. Doan already looked like an idiot for saying ‘‘I didn’t see it,’’ captain Shane Doan said. ‘‘I haven’t seen it, but from what I was told, it wasn’t that bad. . . . From the players on the bench, [they] said it was a clean hit.’’
I like Doan but I lost respect for him there. I get he has to say that but I think the better response would have been "no comment." That would have said enough in my book. I pretty much lost all respect for the Coyotes organization. And some of that comes down on Tippet as well. They know this guy, they know his history. THEY needed to stop this hack and didn't.
I'm not saying that there should be some collusion amongst NHL teams but I hope no one signs this dirty ****er. Let him go play in another country. Hopefully this sends a very very clear message to players. Hopefully there will be some consistency from Shannahan from now on. I don't care if its a Kings "star" player that did it.....lay the hammer down. This **** MUST stop.

Look, I know my argument isn't going to be popular and I am not defending Torres if it seems that way. I just think that Hossa was careless and that directly affected the play. As a longtime fan of Scott Stevens, it is almost impossible to think he would have had the same career in this day and age. Facepalm all you like but that really is a poor substitue for arguing actual facts. Would you feel differently if it had been another player instead of Torres? Someone with a spotless rep? Try to take that factor out of the equation.
