Thread: 2nd Outdoor Game...way to screw up Bettman...AGAIN.

I say every game needs to be a Winter Classic. Let's move the entire schedule outdoors. Imagine the ratings!!

There you go....I mean if we're gonna ruin it...we might as well go all the way. Like my high school ball coach said 'if you're gonna make a mistake...make it big!'

I also think that having more TV exposure on hockey is a good thing, but not in an Olympic year.

And if you're going to do this, make it different. I like it the "Alaska" style: on a giant outdoor pond with no boards!

Lest we forget big mistake #1 with the outdoor classic- televising it on the biggest college football day of the year.....brilliant! Surely I cant be the only one to think this game should be scheduled the week before the Super Bowl when their is absolutely nothing else happening.

The reason January 1st works is because it's a day of sitting around and doing absolutely nothing for just about everybody.

I think the league is perfectly happy with the ratings and the visibility the event gets on New Years Day.

Ya, new years day is a good one for nailing the maximum number of people sitting around on their asses watching tv.

Jim hughson of hnic was just saying on NHL live that as long as the winter classic is on NBC, there'll never be a Canadian team in the matchup since NBC is going to want to feature the most marketable in America teams. He also pretty much said what some people here are saying. While they don't have any "romantic" sites like Fenway or wrigley, wherever it's hosted will have no problem selling out.

The Rogers Centre would probably be pretty cool, and it's just down the street from the Air Canada Centre.
