Default 2nd Outdoor Game...way to screw up Bettman...AGAIN.

Here we go again...the NHL is talking about having a second outdoor game. This one to be hosted on Hockey Day in Canada. Way to take the only event that the NHL has that transcends across the lines and appeals to all sports fans and cheapen it by having it more than once a year.

Second outdoor classic a possibility for 2010-2011 season, commissioner Gary Bettman says - ESPN

I mean, doesn't the playing of two 'classics' negate the ability to call it a classic in the first place?

Hell lets have two Super Bowls or two World Seri (or is it serieses)?

I mean two World Cups sounds awesome. Lets do another olympics while were at it...I mean I'm sure Papua New Guinea is pretty peeved that their bid to host the games was denied...we must appease!

Lets find anything of the few things we have in this world that are special and unique any more and rape the hell out of them with our capitalist falices...I mean we already killed rock n' roll...why stop now right? Go forth and multiply money grubbers.

Sounds like only the Canadian teams would participate if it's held on "Hockey Day In Canada." I don't see a problem with that. The event would be a very big deal North of the border and the US outlets wouldn't go all out like they do for the "Winter Classic."

OR, the Canadians can just be patient and wait until one of their teams is chosen to host the event? I mean, I'd love for it to be played here in SoCal but I'm not up in arms trying to get them to create a second game just so they can have one here. I'll wait because its special and WORTH waiting for.

Have you guys not been paying attention lately?

Gary Bettman has been saying ANYTHING in order to keep Canadian fans happy.

He's also mentioned the possibility of expansion in the wake of the Ballsille mess in order to appease Canadians who were hoping to get their hands on the Coyotes. And now he's saying what he needs to say about the Classic.

With the Canadian dollar doing what it's doing against our dollar, it's the revenue coming in from north of the border that's semi-artificially boosting the numbers, thereby keeping the salary cap higher. And as long as he can sell that point to anyone who will listen, it's his case to keep all the teams where they are because "the league is doing fine!"

"Only a numbskull thinks he knows things about things he knows nothing about."
"It's understanding that makes it possible for people like us to tolerate a person like yourself."

A game in Canada is a no fail. Canadians will eat it up. Hopefully it's in Calgary.

Americanizing the game is what has caused hockey so much trouble in the first place!

I love Canada just as much as the next Canadian... but there's only 30 Million people in Canada and only 6 NHL teams.

The Winter Classic is the one thing the NHL has kind of stumbled on that's really great. Milking it for every possible penny right off the bat is an "American" thing to do.

Oh and the next city to get the Winter Classic should be Toronto.
    Against the Kings.

    SCHENN Vs. SCHENN!!!
