Vellieux...career minor leaguer
Palmieri...had a great season under Lemaire, regressed since then. Was never going to be more than a 4th liner with a lot of sitting in the press box. Carter/Bernier made him expendable
Foster...feel really bad for him. Great team guy and he really improved the pp. He was shaky and occasionally a liability 5 on 5.

Zidlicky. Also can be a liability. Also can work a pp. Has a year left and he wants to come and play with Patty and Petey. Up until this year under a new coach he has been the one thing we really could use, a point producing back ender.

so far, fair trade...the players had to go the other way to match money. I have a problem with the 2nd rounder. That's the overpayment. I think the 3rd in 2013 is contingent on the Devils making the finals and Zidlicky playing 3/4's of the Devils playoff games.

Slight overpayment, but the market is really high right now so it's really status quo.

Yeah the bodies nj gave up dont amount to much. The draft picks were the heart of that trade. Min really wasnt happy with zids play of late but maybe being paired with harrold will turn his season around.

Like what you did there...but Harrold has actually been another solid plug in so far. Credit to the Devils staff and DeBoer's system.

I never had a problem with harrold when he was in a kings uni. I thought he was pretty useful. It cant be easy being asked to play a couple games a year and not even know what position you were going to play. The guy never complained and always seemed to give 100%.

And he is doing well with my boys because his duties are very simple and outlined.

Another look at the Devils/Wild trade

UPDATE:

The 2nd round draft pick (2012) is the Washington Capitals (cheer against Washington here on out).

Foster and Veilleux are UFA's at the end of this season (Houston, we have replacements).

3rd round draft pick (2013) is conditional meaning that we get it if the Devils reach the Eastern Conference Finals (Go Devils; highly unlikely in my opinion without further significant moves by Uncle Lou).

Perhaps most importantly, the Wild are off the hook for Zidlicky's $4 Million contract hit next year in the last year of his contract. In return, the Wild take on $3.1 Million plus in New Jersey salary but, again, Foster and Vielleux are UFA's at the end of this season

So, essentially, we trade Zidlicky for a 2nd round draft pick and Palmieri (3rd/4th line player with only a little potential according to Devils fans) and the Wild shed a $4 Million salary obligation next year, thus freeing up money for free agency this summer.

Puts it into proper perspective. If Zids can heat up a bit it'll seem like a standard Lou steal.

Players on waivers today will clear or be claimed Mon noon. If team wants to clear roser spot or cap space, waivers today are required.

For example, I won't be surprised if NYR put Wojtek Wolski on waivers today to allow them to create cap space/roster spot on Monday if req'd

I dont see Rolston getting picked up unless its on re-entry waivers
