Figured I have a right to start this, and you guys are most certainly gonna cover 'the other finals' in Home Ice.
So NJD/NYR...the NHL is happy. I will either be real happy or tri-state murder spree unhappy, but so be it. With great risk comes great reward. I wonder if ANYONE will comment about how the Rangers trap and the Devils play a more exciting style of hockey. Prolly not. How do I see it? Well, the matchup worries me, but Washington had potential to be even worse. I think the Caps had another gear while the Rangers may be playing as well as they can. And let's break it down. Rangers took seven games to finish off a 7th seed and an 8th seed. Lundqvist may be dinged up and they have to be gassed. But they are our nemesis...so there's that. I don't think anyone is going to know what the series will look like till at least the second game. Oh, and my Devils...well the extra rest has been really good. Zidlicky was hurt by a cheap grind by Simmonds in game 5. He was back skating today. Volchenkov also took some rough shots from Rinaldo and a couple of double teams and he skated today too. Rust...maybe a little, but if they can get past the first period without getting run over by a team that's going to be tired...well, I think that's the extent of that. Marty and Patty Elias apparently stepped up in the Florida series and went all 'Braveheart' in the locker room...and man, they responded in the Philly series. Torts is bound to try to rattle things by running Marty and sending out the goons...I expect my team to just shrug it off and out hustle them. Watch Clarkson and Parise...both are due to go off. And Ilya, well he may make the difference. But the one player I expect to sneakily get involved...Patrick Elias. Running out of time, and he has shown moments this season where he is not as content with losing as he used to be. I have to think this series goes 6...with my Devils getting a bounce or two.
