The officiating in the playoffs have been much worse than in the regular season. Torres made a dirty play thinking he would get away with it.....he did this game, but I'm sure (hope) he will be gone for the year after review.

They showed Torres has done something like this before. The announcers said he doesn't go out to deliberatly hurt anyone. Well, I call bs, that sure looked like to me he was trying to hurt Hossa and succeeded
I've said before and still say, what 1 ref used to miss, now takes 4 officials to miss. It's rediculous. They sometimes call piddly stupid crap and then miss such important calls.
I would definitely be in favor of video reviewing any questionable hit. The NHL is in the dark ages when it comes to using technology to making the game a more safe and precise sport to play and watch.
that puke is one of the dirtiest players in the league, and its the NHL's fault for enabling guys like him to run wild (cause yes a $2500 fine is so scary to someone making millions a year) and do whatever they want. I don't think it's a coincidence that concussions seem to be more common than they have ever been. I love good hard fought hockey matches, but not when they risk the health of any player.
I agree. One of my pet peeves is calling a delay of game when someone accidently shoots the puck over the boards. I can see that call if it's deliberate but, so many times it's just an accident and extreemly obvious. Then the diving is obvious to us at home and yet officials on the ice can't see it? Something needs to be done abt thiese sorry refs.
I loved the really tough guys of the past but, that's where the goons now belong...in the past. Hockey has changed...some rules for the good, some just dumb. There has to be a better way to police these games. Like you said, dark ages in technology in a lot of ways.
yup, the stubbornness of the league enables stupid, dumb, dangerous, and embarrassing plays and it's on the rise. Diving is so common now, cheap dirty hits are made every single game it seems, something needs to change or else the NHL will lose a lot of credibility in professional sports.
