Am I the only one somewhat disgusted by the comments on other boards/blogs about the Torres hit, with saying that he shouldn't get more than someone else because a previous dirty hit was worse?
Clearly whatever suspension the previous player got didn't do enough to deter, so ramp it up if they're serious about it, and just go Thunderdome if they're not.
It was a dirty hit, no doubt. He is a repeat offender, and his suspension should reflect that. Honestly, I don't see the Coyotes making any lengthy playoff runs, so 10 games would probably knock him out for the rest of the season.
Not a huge loss to the Coyotes though. Coyotes are very capable of winning without Torres as long as Hanzel and Korp come back from injuries in games 4-7.
Coyotes' Torres suspended indefinitely, disciplinary hearing set for Friday - Coyotes v Blackhawks - 2012 Stanley Cup Conference Quarterfinals
He postponed it from today to Friday? Was that hour and a half flight from Chicago too much for you?
Shanny has pretty much shown that he will suspend a player more severely if there is an injury. He has also shown he will suspend more severely if the player is not a star, is a repeat offender, and injured a star player. I would not be surprised if this is one of the stiffest suspensions in NHL history and rightfully so. This guy is a complete moron for not getting it when it comes to legal checks.
Also, I'd like the league to seriously consider changing the suspension policy. Clearly the players aren't getting it. Phoenix losing Torres isn't nearly as bad as Chicago losing Hossa. What if Chicago could choose a player with a similar cap hit on Phoenix to be taken out? Wouldn't that be more of a punishment and stop this crap?
