Thread: Another reason why I hate Gary Bettman

Don't if this has been mentioned, but we all know it's Bettman's fault the NHL is no longer on ESPN, and went to Outdoor Life/Versus/Vs./NBC Sports. What sucks for those of us on a low income and cannot afford the higher up cable package we cannot afford the package that comes with NBC Sports. I have Dish Network so I got the $9 sports package, so game 3 I will be watching at 10 AM on friday morning. Bettman you suck.

I'm not happy with the NBC coverage either. I wish they would have just left the game on the local FSW channels until the finals and then televise those. Don't get me started on missing Bob and Jim. I'm trying to 'put my big girl panties on' over it but I'm still kind of pissed.

Long story short, ESPN turned their back on the NHL, not the other way...

Sucks about you not getting NBCSN. We have Time Warner, and to bump up to the NBCSN tier (back then it was VS), it is only an extra $5 per month.

I must also commend NBC Sports for having the ability to move games to CNBC when needed (CNBC is in our basic cable package). If you think that ESPN would be treating the playoffs BETTER than NBC does, these's nothing I can say that will make you think otherwise. (let's jusy say that ESPN history says otherwise)

For game 3: find a sports bar that has NBCSN - hey! maybe try ESPN Zone!

It sucks for a lot of fans and I still don't like it but it was actually one of the better moves by Bettman for the League. The playoffs have been broadcasted on NBC, NBCSN, and CNBC so the majority of customers could watch every game if they forked over the money. If I remember correctly when the games were on ESPN/ABC there was hardly any coverage until like game 3 of the Finals.

NBC has shown every single playoff game this year. ESPN would not have done the same. I have no complaints other than the fact that Gary Thorne doesn't do the games instead of Doc.

NBC Sports is part of my basic package on Time Warner...maybe Dish is the problem, not Bettman

You hate Bettman for securing a long term contract with NBC Sports? That's rather selfish. For next year, move to Vancouver and become a Canucks fan. You don't even need cable to watch playoff games. Hell, you don't even need electricity, just go to your local supermarket or drug store because it'll be on there. Of course you will find lots of other things to hate, including new reasons to hate Bettman like "Gary hates Canada" & Gary doesn't want a Canadian team to win".


Now would somebody invite the OP over to watch the game or teach him about the wonderful world of illegal internet feeds?

I love the coverage now. ESPN turned their backs on the NHL and I never want the NHL back there. See way more games each week with the NBC deal.
