Keeping Coyotes in Phoenix is proving tough sell | Hockey | CBC Sports

Not much new in this that hasn't been reported before with the exception of the nhl subsidy from the city expired and glendale is now behind. Hadn't realized that but it's certainly one way to tell the NHL to **** or get off the pot.

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I really think Jamison and the NHL are both done with Glendale. My guess is that the league is already working on where to ship the team off to, and they'll just string Coyotes fans along for the rest of the season, telling us "We are still working on a deal," so it's not a lame duck type of situation in Phx for the remainder of the season.

And as Birdman mentioned, we'll probably see the ECHL Phx Roadrunners back in Phoenix in the next few years.

What do you think will become of Jobing.com arena Wile?
When I lived in Tuscon for a awhile, I always enjoyed going to the occasional game.

I dont think it will be used much other than maybe the occasional concert or Disney on Ice type of event. It could be used as the home of a minor league hockey team, but I think any potential owner would likely prefer to play at the Suns arena in downtown, like the Roadrunners did. Jobing.com was used for a MLL (Lacrosse) team, Arizona Sting, for a few years, but lack of attendance (shocker, I know) ended up killing that franchise.

As you know from living in Tucson, Glendale is in the middle of nowhere when it comes to the entertainment in the Phx metro area. I think anyone wanting to bring in another hockey team would be crazy to make Jobing.com their home. It's too bad too because Jobing.com is a fantastic hockey arena.

I know the odds are against it but I for one would like to see the 'Yotes stay. It is cool to have a rival fairly close and to have a decent team in the west.

Plus my sister is going to move to PHX and I would like to catch a Kings game there in the future.

Somehow, someway this is Bruce McNall and Wayne Gretzky's fault.

Damn it all! I hope the 'Yotes stay because I like that team. Hard to play against, and fun to watch. Plus, I'm considering leaving the Hell-hole I'm in, and moving to the Tucson area sometime this year.

Be my luck. I move to an NHL area, and the team moves to where I just left.

A Devils' fan's take on the Stanley Cup Finals against the Kings:

"You guys are retarded. There are 28 teams that would KILL to be getting their ass kicked by LA in the finals. Show some god damn humility and stop being sore losers."
