    Just curious.

Sure but not having them there is a huge difference in travel....there are plenty of Kings fans around to make up for this.

Mostly because of the arena and business' around Westgate. Glendale owns Jobing.com Arena, and is still paying on the loan it took out to build the place and lure the Coyotes to Glendale. Glendale needs the arena to bring in revenue, both from ticket sales and taxes on food/merch/hotels/etc on $ spent in Westgate. If the Coyotes remain in Glendale, it gives the city some long term (20 years at least) hope that the team can eventually make enough money that they can pay off the arena, or sell the arena to the owner of the team (which they are already discussing w/ Jamison from what I've heard). Therefore ridding itself of the arena debt and management costs of the arena, and just sitting back and making money off the people traveling to, and spending money in, Glendale. If the Coyotes leave, then Glendale is stuck paying millions for an arena with no anchor tenant. Sure they can book more weekend concerts and stuff like that, but they will never bring in the amount of people the Coyotes will over a season. Not to mention the Westgate business' that have already said they'd have to close down if the Coyotes pulled out.

@GoldwaterInst It is understandable to be...frustrated at today's decision, but... remember: The battle rages on. #JudgementDay
Are they talking about the Coyotes, or life in general?

4,000 sigs are being turned in today (2,000 more than required and 3 days earlier than their deadline), so it looks like the lease agreement that the City of Glendale tried to slide through will be going to a public vote in November.

The peaks and valleys of this story continue and now I don't feel good about things at all. Sometimes I wonder why I continue to pay attention and care. It's been a brutal last 3 (now going to a 4th) years...

Ah..non-sense. It's because you LIKE the sport. As I've known for nearly 40 years (and even being born in So Cal) and you do as well: that hockey is the greatest sport in the world.

    Keep sticking with it!

Wasn't Doan waiting until the 8th/9th to sign? Didn't it have to do with the deadline for turning in these signatures? Interesting...

I posted this in another thread but the referendum organizer said they are not turning in the voted on Monday and that they will take legal action if the city doesn't do something by the 16th?

I am not sure what to make of this, any clue?

Yup, 2 different issues, but both will effect whether or not Glendale can afford to pay the arena management fees to get the lease done. I tried to cover it more extensively in the Doan FA thread.

Im trying! The only thing I can compare these last 3 years to is being like a beaten spouse that keeps on returning to bad relationship out of love... only to get kicked in the gut again, and again, and again.

As disgruntled as I am right now, Ill be back for another beating next season for sure.

If you enjoy watching hockey I don't see how the analogy applies. I have a long time friend who I grew up with who "blames" me for getting him interested in hockey back in 75. He has lived in the Phoenix area since the early 90s and has been a Yotes STH since they moved there. He enjoys it all but is frustrated as well with management. However, I think he was more irritated when "TGO" was running the show there more than he is now. There really isn't much you can do so why get upset? Enjoy the games while you can...and even if they move you can watch, right? There is plenty you can subscribe to on TV.
