So basically, good market but bad location ? I know several Coyotes fans that are all about the team. Heck, I know some hardcore Thrasher fans. Sucks because the beef they had with the Kings was just getting good.
Paging Don Levine (Chicago Wolves Owner)!
Mr. Levine has the capital, and the experience with owning an AHL club. He wants a team in Seattle. An arena is going to be done in 2015. A superb marketing WIN for Seattle sports fans if the new arena could boast two anchor tenants like the Super Sonics and the Yotes (Wolves would be a great name change BTW) in its opening year.
I think that is an accurate statement. Tons of hockey fans out here. Most my buddies are diehard fans, but all of them are from other parts of the country, and they all root for there home state teams. Blackhawks, Red Wings, Bruins, Islanders, Sabres, etc. It's a transplant city. Im an AZ native, so adopting the Coyotes was easy. Not so much for many others it seems. Those transplant fans and casual fans that are new to hockey are not gonna make that drive to Glendale for 15 or 20 games per season, let alone 41. I think that is what ended up killing the Coyotes.
And like you mentioned, the Coyotes have finally developed some rivalries, made the locals take notice, and won a little bit in the playoffs. Hell even the Suns suck right now and the potential for stealing some other sports fans in the Valley is very high. Seems like it's gonna be a little too late.
Central location, in downtown or Scottsdale, and I don't think there is any attendance or ownership problems.
Rest in peace Coyotes...long live the Washington Wolves!

Looks like Portland may be in the mix as well... anything is better than QC.
Reports surface of new suitor for Coyotes
Wile sorry bro to hear this.
I'd be gutted if the Kings left. Totally sucks for all the fans in Phoenix who've supported the team. Hoping they pull it out for ya, Wile.
