Thread: Avery at it yet again...

It certainly doesn't look like he hit him that hard with the stick but I can understand Thomas's reaction to it.

I think it was Sean trying to test the rules to see what the NHL will or will not let him get away with going into the playoffs, assuming the Rangers make them.

The thing is, if you ignore Avery, he's a lot less effective at what he does and if anything he keeps trying to get under the opponents skin at a distraction to himself.

I have to agree. From what the officials saw, Avery was attacked out of nowhere by Thomas. Yes, it was in retaliation to his stunt, but we all know that it's usually the guy who retaliates that gets caught.

If you're going to start calling penalties based on replays shown on the jumbotron, you're opening up pandora's box. From now on every time a home team's player gets fanged for retaliation, they should replay the incident on the jumbotron so the original penalty gets called too? After all, precedents has been set.

The Rangers are fighting to make the playoffs. They're down 1-0 late in the 3rd period, and he pulls THAT!!!??!?!?!

He's lucky he didn't put his team on the penalty kill. An instigator penalty and/or a 10 minute misconduct could have been justified.

If the refs were paying attention! You would think a vet ref like Marouelli would be keeping his eyes on him.

If it had been Perry that did it to Quick I would have the exact same reaction because I'm not a knee jerk reactionary nut job.

The people that think Avery "deserved" a penalty are the kinds of people that attempt a citizens arrest when they see someone jaywalking.
