They also probably like Dane Cook.

I personally like a little sportsmanship with my Hockey, so I disapprove of what most of that idiot Avery does. I also think that it was fine that McSorley was kicked out of the league and wish that Bertuzzi had also been (and no, I'm not saying that what Avery did was of the same caliber; merely with the same bad-spiritedness).
I don't think damn near murdering someone and tapping someone on the head to be a d-bag is close to the same caliber. You're comparing a nuke and a wiffleball bat. It's absurd.

So because we don't agree on the Avery situation, my hockey knowledge/credibility is suddenly down a few notches? Gotta love it.

I thought it was rather obvious that he was scanning the crowd, looking for his next sloppy seconds victim.

and this is precisely why I don't have a problem with him.

If the Rangers wind up missing the playoffs I doubt that they bring Avery back next season.

Avery will ultimately wind up responsible for his own ouster from the league and that's the best cautionary tale there is.

NOT a never ending stream of wrist slaps and "tsk tsk"s from the crowd of sensitive nellies that need every bad man with a potty mouth to be sent to the corner.

My bad, you're right. Used the wrong wording. What I meant to say was your examples are by no means in the same spiritedness.

Maybe I was just put of by the word spiritedness. I mean, really, now.

Doesn't mean he'll be in the bigs, or that they won't try to buy him out.

They pay half and the Stars pay half for the remainder of his contract (3 more seasons after this one) since he was picked up on re-entry waivers.

See now here's an interesting question...

Avery is the property of the New York Rangers at half his salary because he was claimed off re-entry waivers from the Stars.

His contract is good for the next three seasons following this one.

IF the Rangers wanted to buy him out.... would they have to pay 2/3 of what THEY owe him over six seasons? Or 2/3 of what he's owed on the total contract over six seasons? Would Dallas be forced to adhere to whatever decision New York makes? Or are the two halfs of his contract treated like separate contracts?

    CBA gurus help!!!
