at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Seems to me that Doan has three options:
1. - He can play in a Phoenix beer league to enforce his "no movement clause"....
2. - He can suck it up and stick wit' da team and keep getting paid by whomever buys, no matter where they end up...
3. - He can ask for a trade to a team close to Phoenix.
EDIT: To save all the trouble, Doan, a right wing, makes $4.55 million per year until the end of the 2012 season and will turn 33 in October. Lame trade ideas on Doan to L.A. gooooo......NOW!

I hope Balsillie wins and the Coyotes do move for two reasons, one to stick it to Bettman and two because the Coyotes have been kicking our butts the last couple of seasons and it will be nice to get them out of our division.
The judge has ruled in favor of the NHL....

Either way.... the Coyotes are not moving to Hamilton for the 2009/2010 season.
wow these guys know hockey!
"...The Coyotes have lost more than $300 million since the franchise moved from Winnipeg in 2006..."
aye yai yai
Such is how the mind of Gary Bettman works.
Instead of locating a franchise where it will thrive and be profitable he puts one in Glendale, AZ where it is ignored and a financial black hole.
If Bettman was not being propped up by the most powerful NHL team owners he would have been tarred and feathered years ago.
