That's gonna depend on how its legal mumbo jumbo is worded, and would likely also depend on additional court filings from the NHLPA IF they determine that the team will move.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Seems to me that Doan has three options:

    1. - He can play in a Phoenix beer league to enforce his "no movement clause"....

    2. - He can suck it up and stick wit' da team and keep getting paid by whomever buys, no matter where they end up...

    3. - He can ask for a trade to a team close to Phoenix.

EDIT: To save all the trouble, Doan, a right wing, makes $4.55 million per year until the end of the 2012 season and will turn 33 in October. Lame trade ideas on Doan to L.A. gooooo......NOW!

Judge says that NHL is entitled to a relocation fee if he approves sale:

Judge says NHL entitled to fee if Coyotes move to Hamilton

Relocation price leaked at $100M in court:

Commentary that its less about keeping the Yotes in Phoenix, and more about Bettman keeping Balisillie out of the ownership:

The bottom line? Coyotes to Vegas or Canada | Voices | eastvalleytribune.com

And another owner claims that the relocation fee should be $150M, with $50M each going to Toronto and Buffalo:

Balisillie seems hopeful, and now has corporate sponsors:

What makes this even more interesting is that rumors abound that both Phoenix and Tampa have had problems obtaining both corporate sponsorships AND advertising agreements last season.

I hope Balsillie wins and the Coyotes do move for two reasons, one to stick it to Bettman and two because the Coyotes have been kicking our butts the last couple of seasons and it will be nice to get them out of our division.

I read that more that the court did not think it could get it done based upon Mr Balisilles timeline and not that it sided with the NHL.

Either way.... the Coyotes are not moving to Hamilton for the 2009/2010 season.

Such is how the mind of Gary Bettman works.

Instead of locating a franchise where it will thrive and be profitable he puts one in Glendale, AZ where it is ignored and a financial black hole.

If Bettman was not being propped up by the most powerful NHL team owners he would have been tarred and feathered years ago.
