The banana, thrown from the upper deck of the John Labatt Centre, landed directly in Simmonds path toward Red Wings goalie Jordan Pearce during the shootout.

A second banana was reportedly thrown at Simmonds when he scored the tying goal late in the 3rd period, but the object did not make it to the ice.

he didnt get the book thrown at him. its a slap on the wrist and the possibility of not being able to enter THAT arena. they decided it wasnt a hate crime. in Hamilton, Ontario he's guilty of littering.

I suppose his response/excuse to all of this is technically possible but how often does someone bring a banana to a hockey game and then choose to throw it right when a black hockey player (a rarity in itself) is about to shoot the puck?
