And I agree that he belongs. I'm sure the voters even believe he belongs. But here's an example. Despite how good Heath Ledger was in The Dark Knight, there are still people who say he only won the Oscar cuz he had just died. Most people know he deserved it, but you can never get rid of that supposed asterisk. I'd rather Burns be remember for his accomplishments rather than his death and it's just too fresh in peoples heads. I'm sure he'll be in within 5 years. Don't forget too that it usually takes longer for builders to get inducted.

difference is... those who don't think Ledger deserved the Oscar have a legit argument.

Dougie Gilmour was one of the biggest bad-asses in the history of the NHL and was an absolute no-brainer for the HOF. He made every team he was on better by his just being on it. Those of us who watched the Kings go to war with his Leafs in the '93 playoffs know what I mean.

Problem is Ledger was not alive to win the Oscar. Burns was dying at the time and I would gladly have given all the naysayers their voice just to see a dying man get the respect that he deserved. The Ledger argument is apples/oranges because he was already dead, it meant nothing to him.

and honestly, i thought it was good... if you want to see Ledger in what i think was a f***ing amazing performance, watch the Lords of Dogtown.
