no, it is news because some stupid media guy decided to make it news, and why even waste time with a non-news item like this? If it wasn't reported, would it have made ANY difference to you? Are you staying up late at night screaming "WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO US TIM THOMAS!?!?!?" Did Tim Thomas call a press conference to say that he was going to skip the meeting to draw attention to himself?

Right, if we were ignorant of the reason he didn't go it wouldn't be news. Too bad there is a media though. You know, the part of society that keeps us informed. We would have won the Vietnam War if it wasn't for Walter Kronkite.

I have not said a thing about Republicans in this thread. Only about Tim Thomas's actions.

Tim Thomas didn't have to go. He didn't have to post on facebook why he didn't go. He didn't have to put his management and teammates in awkward positions. But he did.

Most likely true. We "could" have won Vietnam, but with Kronkite spewing negativity at every opportunity (and ignoring US wins, or even calling them defeats), he influenced public policy. Johnson said as much.

And Kronkite was just fine with that!!

Let me clear then, I not only don't give a crap what the political views of hockey players are, I don't give a crap what their actions regarding politics are unless it is criminal or unethical.

The TEAM was invited to the White House. Remove the political portion of this, it is simply a stupid move. Now if Thomas was personally invited and refused, that would be making a statement.

Your last line is just simply hilarious. As is your choice applause of Thomas despite you also thinking "he has nothing to lose". Why would you applaud someone (3 times even) for doing something that had no negative consequences? That said, I disagree with your statement of "nothing to lose". It seems as though Timmy is a just a little full of himself to see what he could lose.
