Default Can Someone Explain How 2nd Round Matchups Work?

I'm sure I should know this by now, but can someone explain to me how 2nd round match ups work? I get how every team matches up in the 1st round as well as the 3rd and 4th rounds of the playoffs, but I'd like to know all the different scenarios that could play out from the winners of the 1st round. Like, who the Kings would play if they advance, or who the Canucks would play if they do...or St. Louis/San Jose...etc. Thanks ahead of time and karma/likes to whoever responds!

they reseed after the 1st round so the higher seed play the worse and so on. WHEN we win we will play St louis, if they win or Phoenix if STL loses and PHX wins If both lose we play Nashvile

Vancouver will play SJ if they win or Chicago is SJ loses

That's a lot simpler than I thought. Thanks!

It is very simple. Starting as the #8 seed, the Kings will always play the highest originally seeded team remaining in each of the subsequent rounds of conference play. Also the #8 seed means the Kings can never have home ice advantage in any Western Conference matchup.

So, just as all of us were saying. Those last two games against San Jose were meaningless.

It was the loss in Minnesota that put the Kings into a situation in which they had to win all 3 of their remaining games to take the Pacific Division championship. But had they won both games against the Sharks, the Kings still would have taken the division on tie-breakers and received the #3 seed. Sadly, those games were far from meaningless.

Yeah, I knew about the home ice advantage (or lack thereof,) just didn't understand how the 2nd round match ups worked until now. Thanks again everyone! Much appreciated!

You must spread some Karma around before giving it to VCRW again.
I was actually being sarcastic. Re: Sharks games.

The tricky part is when a division winner has less Reg Season points than another team. For example, if LA, PHX and STL win their series then NASH will play PHX but PHX has home ice even though NASH had more points. PHX will be #2 seed.
