Default Canucks Hiring Tortorella/Traded Schneider/Ballard/Booth to be bought out?

Multiple sources indicate he's flying to Vancouver as we speak. Well, this should be interesting to say the least.

I wonder what happened to Stevens as the prime candidate...

edit: I never put Loluongo in the title. well played, mods, well played

    Default Canucks Hiring Tortorella

He's gonna love the Sedins...or not. This is the kiss of death for Gillis, IMO.

Well Torts doesn't coach defense, so that's perfect for the Sedins

Apparently the Sedins were heavily involved in the coaching search and were big proponents of Gillis hiring Torts.

I actually doubt Jarmo makes that mistake.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Maybe the Canucks should hire D'Antoni then.

I doubt they know what they're getting themselves into. They probably saw that he's won a cup and thought he'd be a good choice. Which brings me to my next point. Why would a GM ask his players what coach he should hire? Gillis doesn't know what he's doing and that's the main reason he never hired his own coach when he was brought in. This reeks of the Mike Keenan days.

Interesting. Players involved in choosing a coach. Sounds like the NBA.
