I don't really agree here, thought he was pretty bad both seasons. In his second season his +/- improved by 5 by he was still a -19 and he had 5 less goals, hardly would consider it a drastically improved year, the only good thing was mentoring Jack Johnson (i think?), but in all honesty i wish Odie was around do that like he did with Doughty.

a captain's main role is to lead by example, this doesn't bode well for the Sharks.. At some point they'll realize the guy is not who they think he is...

For the record, Jack hated playing with Rob, he much preferred Modry as a line mate which surprised the hell out of me...

As much has some of you have negative feelings about Jack's dad, he wouldn't make up something like that.

Jack always felt that Rob would go out of his way not to chase down pucks in the corner and left that chore to JJ. The feeling I got from this convo was that Blake was lazy and often just picked his spots to be responsible...

I agree with you about how Odie would have been a better fit in that role...

I understand that the Kings fans' view of Blake is out of whack with the rest of the league, including, apparently, the players themselves.

And I didn't hate him for the Colorado trade--**** like that happens all the time in sports, plus we might've won that deal if Deadmarsh hadn't suffered such a freak injury.

And I didn't hate him all that much when he came back and was mediocre--that's Blake at this point. He should've never made that kind of money that we paid him. What was he supposed to do, say no to $6M/year? I hated the deal, but not Blake personally.

But he really sealed his fate when he rejected the trade at the end of the 2008 deadline and then bailed on us the following offseason--to the very same team he had nixed a trade to a few months before. That was a dick move, no matter how you slice it.

Anyone that watched closely that season couldn't miss seeing how often Blake would hang his partner out to dry. I'm sure Lubo loved it too.

Blake was willing to sign with the Kings for a million less than what the Sharks were offering but DL wasn't interested.

i don't remember him saying that. what i remember was Dean making an assumption which in turn proved to be a complete misunderstanding of the level of their perceived relationship... based in part in allowing Rob to make the decisions.

if you are one to believe in the hearsay, Rob Blake told everyone in earshot at the gym that he wasn't coming back for $4 million dollars.

Ok, will this Blake stuff ever end? So many people are putting so much energy in hating Blake and or defending Blake.

It is over, it is time to move on. I have been reading so much about him on LGK it is like he did something personally to some of you. He plays hockey, he did not commit a crime. His play on the ice or his actions has not effected my life in any way.

The fact that he is the captain of the Sharks has not changed the way I look at things or what I am going to do tomorrow.

Come on guys, its all ball bearings now!

More amazing than the number of King's fans that think Avery is something other than a selfish, cancerous sideshow freak?

I'm in the bay area today and I have to say Shark fan is psyched for Captain Flake.
