That's a risk that's currently more defined and definite. If Crosby lost an eye he's done (until he proves otherwise). Right now he's "got his bell wrung" in the minds of most owners. They think he will be back. The realization that he's actually finished but they don't know it yet is just starting to dawn on them, in the meantime they're going through 1-2 years of total uncertainty based probably in their minds on a players whim. Its the marc savard scenario which is actually being recognized in more players. The realization that they can lose every player to this on innocuous looking hits and not just some 4th line goon who's out there making the league minimum is going to screw everyone up and they're going to want flexibility with those contracts.
