Im noticing more players turning there backs about 2ft from the boards. Either to make the player ease up on the hit, or to perhaps take a boarding penalty, either way I don't like it. Seems like these boarding calls are making things worse..

I would say the same chance. Play was slower (clutch, grab) but the new NHL rules for hits today did not apply then (leaving feet, etc.).
As far as diagnosing a concussion, think how far medical tech. has advanced in just the last ten years. I wonder how much concussion training Pete Lemers received?
