he does seem like a good guy with the fans and media, but i don't think he's that much better than roy as far as that personal life stuff goes. (just pointing it out since the original post did). because i don't know... kind of creepy if your new step mom is your aunt, ain't it?
otherwise, aside from my devils hate (sorry vegashockey & jerseydevil! my ex from NJ left a REALLY bad taste in my mouth), i really did get warm fuzzy feelings inside me when he got #552 last night and cut the net out as a souvenir. and i actually like patrick roy, he was my favorite goaltender to watch when i was a kid.

    (cue Spaceballs)

    It was Marty's wife's half-brother's ex-wife.

It's kinda funny, I've watched 95% of the Devils' games over the last six years and I took for granted how good he is. Everybody was quick to point at Clemmensen's numbers (without actually watching the games) as "proof" that Brodeur wasn't that good. After 40 games with Clemmensen, it took about two minutes against Colorado for me to do the "Oh yeah..." realization that things were much smoother with Marty back there.

    i didn't watch spaceballs.

still a tangled web there. regardless, i really don't care about his personal life. i only brought it up because patrick's wife beating was brought up. they ain't all saints was my point. i can overlook that though and admire their accomplishments because in the end, it's the hockey i'm watching and not their family lives.

Not that I didn't enjoy it, but what's so humble about cutting down the net? That was a bit Ocho Cinco.

Come on, I think physical violence is much more aggregious than whatever it was that Brodeur did.

i'm not condoning physical violence as i know someone close to me who's been a victim of it. i'm just saying neither of them are saints. also, i would think cheating on your wife and marrying your kids' aunt doesn't display the healthiest of family relations to your children.

Dark Helmet: Before you die there is something you should know about us, Lone Star.
    Lone Starr: What?
Dark Helmet: I am your father's.....brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.
Lone Starr: What's that make us?
Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing! Which is what you are about to become.
I also noticed the ommision of Marty's extra-marital affairs in one ESPN article which put Sawchuk, Roy, and even Belfour's off ice personalities in question. It did stick out as a weird paragraph to include, they could just noted Marty is more outgoing to the media than typical goalies.

    And you gotta watch Spaceballs!

Is there a picture where both the facepalm and fail are depicted? I need one of those for this post.

Patrick looks worse and worse everday even after retirement thanks to his kids trying to follow in his smug footsteps. Man, Patrick was even a dick to Ron Tugnutt, one of the most notorious nice guys to ever suit up in the NHL.
