Thread: Drop Dead Date for Lockout?

It pisses me off. Finally the King have a core locked up long term, now we're going to end up losing a year of these players "prime".

wasn't next season supposed to be the one where the core actually stepped up based on all the talk a few years back?

I would be shocked if the entire season got cancelled. I think most players regretted it big time the last time it happened (some said so openly later) and it happened recently enough that some of those guys are still in, or at least around, the game. They will impress on the current players the folly of losing an entire year of a short career and in the end, getting nothing in return. That said, I would also be pretty surprised if the season started on time. I think it will get delayed but they'll start up in time for the Winter Classic.

Bettman: Players locked out if there's no deal by Sept. 15

National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman told reporters on Thursday that the NHL will lock out its players if there is no new collective bargaining agreement by the time the old agreement expires on Sept. 15.

And here is comes. The 3rd work stoppage of Bettman's reign. Good thing the Kings fans were classy enough not to boo the man when he presented Brown with the Cup.

I don't understand your logic at all here. It is not like they will get their names on the cup twice if next season is cancelled. And no one but die hard hockey fans will give a **** who won the cup in the 2011-2012 season. Any interest from the "casual fan" that has come along since the last lock out, and especially in LA from the Kingses run, will be gone and never come back. This is the absolute worse thing that can happen to this sport, Kingses on the cup or not.

Not saying its a good thing...but if its going to happen its made better by the Kings having won the Stanley Cup.

I just feel that if there is a full season lockout the Kings will lose the use of several players and it's hard to resign older players after a year off.

It would not be good for the Kings or the NHL so get it done.

I believe the NHL should do something new in case of a lockout. They need to have midget scab players. THese midgets need to look like the players they're replacing. Just imagine, midget Dustin Penner straining his back while eating silver dollar pancakes.
