At least he got 10 shots on goal. He really has the pressure on him right now.

BLAMMO!
Sometimes I feel bad for Leafs fans...then I talk to one. Every year is 'the year' with them. I'd like to see the team do well, but I'm not looking forward to seeing Burke heralded as a savior, nor do I look forward to the endless 'we told you so's from Leafs fans.
If there was ever an argument for overhauling the points system, the Leafs are it. For a team to have only one win and yet have 7 points is a joke.
Now on TSN website they have an article giving a rundown from random people it seems stating "what should Burke do?"to turnaround the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Hodgemail: What should Burke do? Suggestions flood in
In that article there was this mentioned-
There was quite a bit mentioned about what Burke should give thought doing an all, but what struck me most is, why would they want to send Schenn back to the minors to regain his confidence?"Send Schenn to the minors to restore his confidence; get Kaberle to waive his no-trade clause; buy out Blake whenever possible; bring up the kids—Hanson, Stalberg and Bozak." - Simon, Whitby, ON
There is alot that needs to be done with this team knowing that in 20 games that they have won only 3 games.
For starters I would fire the head coach Wilson, trade Kaberle for a 1st round pick and prospect or a couple high potentialed prospects, get rid of Jason Blake anyway you can (2nd round pick would do), and make a threeway trade that would involve Toskala going oneway out of Toronto, just as long as it sends JS Giguere to Toronto. I don't mind who they have on the back-end, that the only problem I have with Toronto is them needing top six fowards. There is only so few that are capable of being Toronto's top six at foward.
So if you were the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, what would you do to turnaround this team?
i'd trade for purcell...could toronto get any worse???
I'd love to see Lombardi swing a deal for Schenn. A lot of that "wow, I can't believe this kid is only 18" shine has worn off now that he's 20 and he's playing 10 minutes a night.
Maybe a deal centered around Oscar Moller and the Kings 2010 1st?
Toronto needs to gut everything and start over as a rebuild.
Though he pretty much tried to copy the formula he had success with in Anaheim, the problem is that his defense is just not that good, he lacks that high-end young talent on the offensive end, he doesn't have a Pahlsson-type shutdown line and the goaltending has been porous.
I think he figured going into the season that the defense was solid enough to overcome some of those deficiencies, but the fact is, outside of Kaberle, Komisarek and maybe Ian White, they've been pretty poor. Schenn is mired in the jinx right now, but he'll be fine in the long run. I still can't believe Burke traded away Kubina for Garnet Exelby (and eventually Wayne Primeau)...Kubina has been excellent for Atlanta.
I'd be inclined to agree with blowing it up and bringing the kids up, but I think bringing up Hanson, Stahlberg, Bozak, etc... is only going to result in them learning how to get their asses kicked. Going to be some tough years ahead for the Leafs if Burke can't find a way to bring in some young talent and draft picks. I'm real interested to see what he's capable of with this deck.
