Oates, I'm a little surprised because he was always seen as the 2nd guy behind the superstar goal scorers, but no one can deny his numbers or how he actually made those goal scorers so much better. Sundin, I'm not sure. Maybe he deserves to be in but not before Shanahan. If he wasn't a Leaf would he get in this quickly?

Lindros is hard to say. If you look at how his junior hockey career started, all the hype of him being the "Next One", and how his career was eventually cut short, maybe you say he didn't live up to expectations. But in those few years with the Flyers when he won the MVP & was part of the Legion of Doom line, he was the most dominant player in the league. Is that short brilliance enough to get him into the HOF? I don't know. You could compare him to Cam Neely getting in with a short but great career but Neely didn't have the baggage Lindros does.
Not sure how you think Bure is a no brainer but Lindros is a maybe. Honestly I don't. I mean, Lindros played more games, had more points, a better PPG avg, more awards. . .just don't see it.

He's a maybe not based on his numbers but based on his reputation & perception, right or wrong. I also think while Lindros was dominant in his way, Bure was more dominant in his own way.

I guess I just remember Bure being pretty damn truculent during his whole career while Lindros had an issue when he got drafted and when he left the Flyers. Other than that though, I don't recall too much controversy. Either way, I just don't see their careers as being too much different. In my PROFESSIONAL opinion, I don't think either should get in. It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Could Have Been Great.
