Default How Do You Feel About Brendan Shanahan's New Role?

I love what the NHL is doing here.

I have agreed with the punishments thus far, and I believe they are trying to prevent all of these concussions.

With Sidney Crosby out with a concussion, you knew they would get serious.

Shanahan is doing a much better job than Colin Campbell.

I love how he gives a clear, thorough video explanation of the reasons why he has given the suspension.

Yes . . . this is something that will be great for the NHL. He doesn't seem to be holding back, although during the Wisniewski video, it's almost like he wanted to go medieval on him for his past history combined with the fact that this was all done after the buzzer.

I just hope going forward that he remembers what it took HIM to make it in the NHL, and how important sometimes the on-ice police work plays into that. This is why I'd like the NHL to remove the instigator penalty if it comes after an ILLEGAL on-ice hit by an opponent. Keep it in place for responses to legal hits and sheer theatrics.

So far so good, but I will have to wait until one of the elite players makes a no-no and see if the punishment fits the crime.

Will he actually have the testicular fortitude to suspend a Malkin or Ovi?

I love what he's done so far yet, it's pretty early to judge.
It's like any business; meaning a new owner or manager of any company will come in llike gang busters, anxious to make a good showing, some changes to show their seriousness of an overhaul.
Best to just sit back, wait and see how this turns out.

With the red wings brandan smith hit on chicago's ben smith, I wonder what Shanahan will do to his former team.

Shanny has always been an up front guy, so I'm hoping he punishes the crime first no matter who the player is. Wisneiwski is a good start. Big bucks being taken away. He has a tough job, but I think he's the guy to do it. Will make the game better over all.

Hopefully 10 game regular season ban to go along with the rest of pre-season. I'd agree with a 25 game ban in this particularly egregious case of targeting a player's head. That hit was absolutely, without argument as dirty as it gets. **** like that has no place in the game.

Agreed, with all the "regular" nhl folks being suspended, I'm all for but my full answer on Shanny doing his job will all be said and done once a superstar does something against the head shot rules

So far, he's doing a great job.

    Shanahan interview w/ Peter Mansbridge.

NHL will look into fighting: Shanahan
