Default Howson Must Go - Nice blast on JJ there as well

KuklasKorner : Puck Stops Here : Howson Must Go

The Blue Jackets gave up talent in Jeff Carter, Antoine Vermette, Sami Pahlsson and Grant Clitsome. The most significant player coming their way is Jack Johnson. Johnson was a first round pick (third overall) and has represented his country in the Olympics, but he is not a very good defenceman. He has a perennially bad +/- rating and is consistently the worst player on his team by Corsi rating. When Johnson is on the ice, the opponents tend to have the puck and score regardless of who Johnson plays with.

Some have compared this Kings trade to when they gave up Larry Murphy. In a lot of ways that is true except I don't see JJ being as effective as LM offensively. LM got a break when he went to Washington and they played him with Rod Langeway (the stay at home type). I think over time maybe JJ will be able to play with that type of d-man....

Larry Murphy broke the rookie record for points by a defenseman and he did it with the Kings. JJ was on his way to breaking the negative +/- record. Plus we got a much more significant return this time. I like JJ but those trades are nothing like one another.

Sometimes your team has to actually score for you to have a +/- record. The Kings defense was among the tops in the league when JJ was out there. Who knew? I guess the defense will now be the top in the league without Johnson on the team. Now, there is no excuse for the Kings not to win every game in a shut out since JJ is gone.

With Carter replacing JJ's roster spot, the Kings should score at least 3 goals a game. I guess every game will end up in a 3-0 victory for the Kings.

This was a great trade for the Kings. I am so excited to see a shutout every game and at least three goals for the Kings. They are now a lock for the playoffs without Johnson.

I was shocked to see that Columbus scored a shut out in their last game because Johnson was playing and they are the worst team in hockey, Who knew?

I am also excited because of the stretch of games coming up for the Kings are going to be played against tough playoff bound teams and now since JJ is gone they will not be able to score against the Kings. Finally the Kings are going to make a run for the cup and take it to So-Cal.
