You can not be too conservative when your job is riding on the spending of $100M USD (+/- 20%) of someone else's money on a 10-15 year commitment.

This was during his LA trip. I doubt Hradek is right about his being put off by questioning. He was wrong about LA being the front runner. They were using LA to keep upping NJ's offer, and it worked. LA's offer wasn't close over the first 5 years, which is more valuable than late dollars. (well, depending on who he invests it with)
