It's funny how some people get so bent out of shape over the Ducks anouncers, yet it's ok (and funny) for Wisniewski to give those gestures to Avery.
I played smear the queer when I was a kid & had no idea what homosexuality was at the time. But if anyone thinks that name didn't refer to homosexuality you're either fooling yourself or being disengenuous. That's exactly what it meant even back some 30-35 years ago. And Ahlers should know better not to say that, he's a professional broadcaster. If he did in fact say that he should apologize. And even if as a kid you don't know that these terms are derogatory, when you're an adult you should know better. I learned this lesson myself when I used the term "bumf--ked Egypt" in front of a childhood friend of mine who also happened to be Egyptian. As soon as that left my lips I knew I screwed up. My friend said "huh?" either because he didn't hear or didn't believe what he heard. So I just somehow covered up what I said & we moved on. But even now I still feel like an idiot for saying that.
I'm sensitive to words. People say things that are stupid every day. Who the F cares! People get outside of the house and wake up!

I got a personal phone call from John Ahlers yesterday afternoon. He wanted to apologize for offending any person or persons for his comments. His intent was not to be malicious and he regret his poor choice of words. Sounded a little scripted but glad to see this wasn't just swept under the rug.
It was nice of him to call and "step up to the ladies tees"
