It could end up being a very good trade for Toronto. I mean realistically if Scrivens is just a stop gap until Jones is ready to backup, he could be gone after 1 season. If Frattin does not work out, he could be gone after 1 season, so in essence we might have traded Bernier for a 2nd round pick that might be in the mid 40's overall.

But I think all the players will help their respective teams. I think a good trade for both teams.

Not that I'm in favor business execs meddling in hockey matters, but Leiweke reportedly nixed trading Brown last season, and that didn't exactly work out badly for us.

Mckenzie is saying the $500K is cap space, so that will help. DL is going to need it.

Does the money mean we get to add 500k back onto our cap, or what would it be for?

Ok, guy above me answered my question just as I was asking it...so thanks...

Default Man, Lisa Dillman is on it!

Just posted the encouraging hyperlinked screencap below in the Off-Season Rumor thread. Interesting timing. Obviously, this deal could help in securing Scuderi to an extension, which would make me happy.

Sort of. It means that Frattin and Scrivens cap hits on our books are $500k less.

scrivens will back up for a year for cheap (ufa next year)
a mid to late 2nd rounder. (leafs are young and improving. they will be a playoff team one of the 2 years)

Goalies are cheap these days. What are you going to do.
Looking back, not a great return for a #11 overall selection
Frattin will be an RFA will he not?

So the Kings acquire half a million in cap space as well.

    So in all, with
    Penner's $3.25 going down to $.925
    Bernier's $1.25 (re-signing at a higher amount, likely) going down to .612
And the Maple Leafs retaining $0.5 in salary...

The Kings just added about $3.5 million in cap space, and that's not even including however much of a raise Bernier will be making.
gescom, brasspucks and Bollocks like this.

Default Jonathan Bernier traded to Toronto for Frattin, Scrivens, 2nd in 2014 or 2015

Great trade Dean. Of all the players mentioned who would come back in a trade Frattin is the only one that can be a power forward and it solved our back up issue. There would be no NHL back up included (for cap reasons) if we traded with the Flyers or the Wild. And we get a 2nd....wow!
